Maths Buzz            (Year 5/6)

Saturdays, 9AM

This course is aimed at students who enjoy Maths but maybe feel like they’re not being stretched enough in their current environment. It’s aimed at students who would like to spend some more time having a go at advanced problems and learning new skills. We will be working towards having a flexible approach to solving problems and aiming to be able to express our ideas on paper coherently. This is excellent preparation for 11+ and 13+ but not in an typical exam based way. This course is learning and exploring Maths with a view to inspiring a love of Maths for years to come. All teaching methods employed are based on the latest evidence and research about how students best learn Maths. The course is delivered by a teacher who currently teaches Maths at a top private school in London.


The course runs for six weeks every half-term and lessons are 55 minutes long.

  • Setting and marking of a pre-assessment quiz to check current ability and ensure a suitable scheme of work moving forward.


  • Six 55 minute lessons, in a welcoming, light filled classroom area.


  • All resources.


  • A drink and snack.


  • A weekly quiz e-mailed out (to do at home) with video solutions to consolidate techniques learned in class.


  • Access to The Maths Hive forum where students can discuss problems and and all things Maths.


  • Access to termly competitions.

Flying Bees        (Year 7/8)

Saturdays, 10AM

This course is aimed at students who enjoy Maths and would like to have a go at learning some new skills and trying to solve some fun but tricky mathematical problems. We aim to arm them with techniques that will be useful for years to come. All teaching methods employed reflect evidence based research for how students best learn Maths. The course is delivered by a teacher who currently teaches Maths at a top private school in London.

Worker Bees  (IGCSE/GCSE)

Tuesdays, 4PM

This is class is primarily focusing on practice of level 7/8/9 (A and A*) material. It can be used as a revision class for Year 11 students or as a way to “get ahead” and boost confidence if a student is currently studying in Year 10. Sometimes students are capable of getting top grades but don’t get enough guided practice in school of the harder questions.

This class will help increase confidence, ability and enable students to reach their full potential in class and in exams. The course is delivered by a teacher who currently teaches Maths at a top private school in London.

There will be ample opportunity to practise doing exam style questions in this course.
